locknote, a free way to securing your notes

January 18th, 2006 by digitalwarts

“And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly, strong, and partly broken.”
- Dan 2:42, KJV

as prophesied, towards the end of time, human is getting more and more uncommitted. as if not wanting to be left behind, the machine is also treading the same path. this can be easily seen in the emergence of portable, and mostly free, softwares. one of which is…

locknote from the infamous consumer-encryption-software-maker company, steganos. this portable, open source freeware is pretty handy in encrypting whatever you’re scribbling. just scribble inside or drop your doodle in it, then voila! it’s now pretty safe from your nosy colleagues. with less than 300kb in digital weight, it can be downloaded in no time. it’s small size also make it easy to be put in a usb flash disk. and the best thing is… you don’t have to commit yourself to install it in your system. the only downside is that it can only encrypt .txt file. download it here. read more about it here.

are you an internet addict?

January 12th, 2006 by digitalwarts

if in the past 12 months you experience three of more of the following symptoms, then you are.

  • a need to increase online time
  • experience classic withdrawal syndrome, i.e. anxious, agitated when not using the net
  • online time is longer than needed
  • failed to control your online time
  • spending time in net-related activities, including downloading craps :-)
  • online time is more important than other activities
  • you’re still surfing the net, eventhough your social life is in total chaos!

using the above checklist, i think i’m having iad, internet addiction disorder. read more about it here.
